When is the dance season?

The 2009-2010 dance season consists of 40 lessons (1 lesson per week).  Classes begin Monday, August 24, 2009.

    The following holidays are observed:

    Labor Day - September 7, 2009

    Thanksgiving - November 24, 2009 - November, 27, 2009

(classes resume Saturday, November 28, 2009)

    Winter Break - December 21, 2009 - January 3, 2010

(classes resume Monday, January 4, 2010)

    Spring Break - March 29, 2010 - April 4, 2010

(classes resume Monday, April 5, 2010)

    Memorial Day - May 31, 2010

The above dates are not included when determining tuition for the year.  Therefore, you are not paying any tuition for these dates.  In the event of any cancellations by American Stars, classes will be rescheduled.

Where is American Stars located?

American Stars Antioch is located in downtown Antioch just East of the train station.  From Rt. 83, go East on Orchard St. and over the train tracks.  The studio is located on the North (left) side of the street.

How much are dance lessons?

Tuition is $44/month for a 1 hour class and $61/month for a 1.5 hour class.  A 5% discount is applied to your family account for two classes.  A 10% discount is applied to your family account for three or more classes.

Parent 'n Tot and Boogie Babies classes are $60 for the 6 week (45 minutes) session.  Ballroom classes are $95/couple for the 6 week (1 hour) sessions.

Can I pay with a credit card?

Payments can be made by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.  Payments can be mailed or dropped in the tuition box located in the waiting area.  Credit card payments can be set up to be automatically charged monthly to your account.

Why do I pay for 4 lessons when there are 3 or 5 lessons this month?

Tuition for regular dance classes is based on a 40-week program.  Although some months may have more or less than 4 lessons, the total lessons taken for the entire year is 40.

When is tuition due?

Monthly payments for regular classes are due by the 1st of each month.  Late fee is applied on the 15th of each month.  Workshops, camps, ballroom, and special sessions are due by the first day of class.

Can I watch my child dance?

Our studio encourages parents to observe their child's lesson.  Observers must remain quiet in the sitting area.  The third week of each month is non-observer week.

How do I sign up for a class?

Contact our office at (847) 838-1234, visit our Antioch office, or print your own registration form.  Fill out the form with the desired class and available times.  The student may be need to be tested to determine the appropriate class.

What is the dress code?

All students should arrive at class with their hair tied back and clean face and hands.  Also, please no jewelry.  During the winter months, please pack a sweatshirt or sweater for warm-up.

    Girls:  Leotard, tights, pink ballet shoes, and black tap shoes.  No baggy shirts or jewelry.

    Ballet Class Only:  Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet/Pointe shoes.

                                  Hair must be pulled back 

    Hip Hop Classes:  Black jazz sneakers.  No baggy shirts or jewelry.

    Pom & Jr. Funk Classes:  Tan jazz shoes.  No baggy shirts or jewelry.

    Boys:  Sweatpants or shorts with shirts tucked in or dance pants and a shirt.

Where do I get tights and ballet shoes?

We have dance merchandise available including shoes, tights, and leotards.  If we don't have your size in stock we can order them.  The merchandise usually arrives within a week.

When and where is the Spring dance recital?

Last year, our 11th annual dance recital was at Kenosha Reuther High School Theatre.  The recital is usually the second week of June.
